The Nine Principles
1. America is good.
2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my life.

Praying

Am praying for the usual intentions and with a lot of THANKSGIVING.
Just found an appropriate prayer: "Blessed is he who does good to the undeserving and has rendered every kindness to me!" Yes, praise be to God almighty!
"Blessed are you, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who has allowed us to live, and sustained us and enabled us to reach this day!"
Yes, praying the rosary at least 3 times a day makes a real difference, thanks be to God!

My Cup Runneth Over

Imagine my surprise when on Friday Carol called and said there were two very large boxes of Red Heart (and who knows what else) yarn there for me to pick up if I wanted. It's been a very long while since I have asked for any yarn, but hey, I'll take it.
So when my dear hubby got home two very large (Jcup) boxes full of yarn goodness were picked up and dumped and sorted. The balls are in the clear bag, different types of yarn in the white bag; wool, cotton and chenille yarns on the chair; and acrylic (mostly Red Heart) yarn in the remaining box.
It looks as though 2010 will be one in which certain months will be designated as Papipad months. I am currently trying to make samples of preemie clothes to share with the Maria Goretti Guild, making cloths to sell at a fund raiser for my son's orchestra (which is scheduled for October 27), working on a wool blanket for as yet to be determined place, and I have a sweater and a cardigan on the needles for me. They are listed by priorities right now.
Truly my cup runneth over! Praise God!!!

Whatcha doin'? Knit much. You?

Full term hat/bootie sets. This one is embellished with clusters of small buttons.
I've also started the Garter Ridge Cardi for me from the Creative Knitting May 2006 issue. I'm using Caron Simply Soft in deep teal heather colorway.
Also knitting up some simple cloths for the Red Cross. (See library pic.)
It is possible that a simple wool blanket is on the needles as well.
Oh, and also another Bunny Blanket Buddy has been started.
Guess I got a bad case of startitis. The only thing to do is to work through the projects.
Oh, and I have to say how joyful I am that Caron Simply Soft has a white yarn that is WHITE. Not that dingy "New" White. So happy!

Prayer For Priests

Dear Lord, we pray that the Blessed Mother wrap her mantle
around your priests and through her intercession strengthen them
for their ministry. We pray that Mary will guide your priests
to follow her own words "Do whatever he tells you" (Jn 2:5).
May your priests have the heart of St. Joseph, Mary's most

Hawaiian Banana Nut Bread

There are many variations of this delicious bread, but I used the following:

Hawaiian Banana Nut Bread
3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 t. salt
1 t. baking soda
1 t. cinnamon
Combine and mix above ingredients.
Then combine together:
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. vegetable oil
2 c. mashed bananas (about 3 medium)
8 oz. crushed pineapple
Combine dry and wet ingredients until moist.
Add 1 c. pecans or walnuts and stir.
Spoon into 2 or 3 greased bread pans.
Bake 350F 60-70 minutes.
Let cool 10 minutes and turn out onto wire rack to cool completely.

Nine months ago, Mary was immaculately conceived in the womb of her mother, St. Anne, by her father St. Joachim. The Feast of that Immaculate Conception, 8 December, is a much greater Feast than today's (it's a Holy Day of Obligation, in fact); but we recall Mary's birthday, too -- the birth of the woman destined by God from the beginning of time to be born of the House of David and the Tribe of Judah, the women whose enmity toward Satan was spoken of as far back as Genesis, the woman whom St. John saw crowned with stars and with the moon at her feet, the woman whom God chose to bear His Son and bring life to the world. With today's Feast, the line between the Old and New Testaments has been crossed; the New Covenant is imminent! Today's Feast is one of the only three birthdays honored in the liturgical year (the others being that of St. John the Baptist and that of Jesus Christ Himself, all three born without original sin, though only Mary and Jesus were free from sin at the moments of their conceptions). We know little about Mary's birth and youth, most of our information coming from the apocryphal Gospel of the Nativity of Mary (translated from the Hebrew by St. Jerome, A.D. 340-420), the Protevangelium of St. James (dated to ca. A.D. 125), and the visions of various mystics through the years. There are no specific traditions today, aside from those offered on all Marian Feasts, such as a recitation of the Little Crown of the Blessed Virgin Mary or the Litany of Loreto (You can download this Litany, in Microsoft Word .doc format, in English or in Latin). Having a birthday cake for Mary is a lovely idea, though! As to prayer, this one to Maria Bambina (the Baby Mary) is most apt: Hail, Infant Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou forever, and blessed are thy holy parents Joachim and Anne, of whom thou wast miraculously born. Mother of God, intercede for us. We fly to thy patronage, holy and amiable Child Mary, despise not our prayers in our necessities, but deliver us from all dangers, glorious and blessed Virgin. V. Pray for us, holy Child Mary. R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us Pray: O almighty and merciful God, Who through the cooperation of the Holy Ghost, didst prepare the body and soul of the Immaculate Infant Mary that she might be the worthy Mother of Thy Son, and didst preserve her from all stain, grant that we who venerate with all our hearts her most holy childhood, may be freed, through her merits and intercession, from all uncleanness of mind and body, and be able to imitate her perfect humility, obedience and charity. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen. There is also this marvelous prayer in honour of Our Lady's Nativity, written by St. Anselm: Vouchsafe that I may praise thee, O sacred Virgin; give me strength against thine enemies, and against the enemy of the whole human race. Give me strength humbly to pray to thee. Give me strength to praise thee in prayer with all my powers, through the merits of thy most sacred nativity, which for the entire Christian world was a birth of joy, the hope and solace of its life. When thou wast born, O most holy Virgin, then was the world made light. Happy is thy stock, holy thy root, and blessed thy fruit, for thou alone as a virgin, filled with the Holy Spirit, didst merit to conceive thy God, as a virgin to bear Thy God, as a virgin to bring Him forth, and after His birth to remain a virgin. Have mercy therefore upon me a sinner, and give me aid, O Lady, so that just as thy nativity, glorious from the seed of Abraham, sprung from the tribe of Juda, illustrious from the stock of David, didst announce joy to the entire world, so may it fill me with true joy and cleanse me from every sin. Another Powerful Prayer

“Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek Your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, “Woe on those who call evil good,” but that’s exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We confess that:

“We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it pluralism.

“We have worshiped other gods and called it multi-culturalism.

“We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle.

“We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

“We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation.

“We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.

“We have killed our unborn children and called it a choice.

“We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.

“We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem.

“We have abused power and called it political savvy.

“We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition.

“We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.

“We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

“Search us, O God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.

“Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent to direct us to the Center of Your Will.

“I ask it in the name of Your Son, the living Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.”

My understanding about this prayer is that when Minister Joe Wright was asked to open a new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual politically correct “prayer” (like those heard at Obama’s inauguration - not spoken to God, but to men), but he uttered the above words instead.

The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest. In six weeks, the Central Christian Church had logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. The church has received international requests for copies of the prayer from India, Africa and Korea.

I also read that Commentator Paul Harvey aired the prayer on The Rest of the Story on the radio and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired.
