Beginning Today Pray This Prayer

Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary at midnight in Bethlehem in the piercing cold! In that hour vouchsafe, O my God, to hear my prayer and grant my petition. (Mention your intentions here) Through the merits of our Savior Jesus Christ, and of His most Holy Mother. Amen.

Say 15 times a day from St. Andrew's Day (30 November), ending on Christmas Eve.

Preparing For The Baby Jesus

For each set of prayers and good deeds we place a strip of paper to represent straw for the baby Jesus to lay upon on his birthday.

Seven Pads For The Humane Society

The pads are coming right along. When I get about a dozen finished I hope to drop them off before too long. Wonderful mindless knitting to relax with and know they will help some sweet dog feel a little better in his cage and hopefully help them find a good home since it's been shown that dogs with pads tend to find homes sooner than those without.

Wonderful Words of Wisdom

Do not worry about why problems exist in the world – just respond to people's needs. Some say to me that if we give charity to others it'll diminish the responsibility of government towards the needy and the poor. I don't concern myself with this, because governments do not usually offer love. I just do what I can do: the rest is not my business.

God has been so good to us: works of love are always a means of becoming closer to God. Look at what Jesus did in His life on earth! He spent it just doing good (Acts 10,38). I remind the sisters that three years of Jesus's life were spent healing the sick and the lepers, children and other people; and that's exactly what we're doing, preaching the Gospel through our actions.

It is a privilege for us to serve, and it's a real, wholehearted service that we try and give. We feel what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean, but that ocean would be less without that drop.~Blessed Teresa of Calcutta (1910-1997), founder of the Missionary Sisters of Charity A Simple Path

Made In America

The Boy Scouts were selling these darling snowmen and I just had to have one;~) Made from a paving stone this guy is pretty heavy. The hot pads are filled with rice and spices that smell oh-so-good! I love that these simple and useful gifts are made in the good ol' USA!

It's All About Lego's

Daniel and Michael are having a blast playing with the Legos. What a great toy to work up the imagination:~D

This That and The Other

Daniel and Michael dressed for Halloween. If you don't recognize them they are Mr. Shawn Thornton (from the movie The Quiet Man. Gotta see this John Wayne film:~D) and Mr. Hawaiian Luau Guy;~) We try to keep a sense of humor about this particular holiday.
In the next photo are five bags containing 50 cloths with 50 bars of Ivory Soap donated to the Red Cross to go in their Comfort Kits.
The next photo is the entrance to the new Humane Society building. Daniel and I went in to see and pet a cat and a kitten. We found out that now it costs $85 dollars to adopt a cat. This is a little more than we'd like to spend. Yes folks, the sad news is that our beloved Chester is MIA. The last time I saw him almost two months ago he was trying to catch the leaves blowing in the wind. We miss you dear Chester!
The next photo is of a crochet outfit hanging at Simply Fibers. It's made out of Red Heart yarn. Very durable stuff, but not very soft to the touch. I love outfits like this though. They make me smile and wonder what colors I'd choose if I were to make one for myself:~)
