Another Round Blanket

Using US6 dpn and circulars I used what was left of the Berroco Comfort from Daniel's last sweater, then some donated bulky soft-as-can-be chanille yarn, and finished it with some Caron Simply Soft in chocolate and navy. It's a thicker fabric and tends to want to pucker where the bulky yarn is but it's a nice blanket or lapghan. This will be headed to our local Newborns In Need. It measures 37" diagonally binding off at 430 sts.

It's Good To Be Alive!

One year ago I had a major surgery that saved my life. It was done in the same hospital I was born in, the same hospital my Mother and Grandmother who raised me died in. My baby was the same age I was when my Mother died. I was given God's grace to live a while longer.
I pray for the grace to accept God's will for my life instead of my own. I'm so grateful to everyone who has prayed for me and my family during this time of healing. I look forward to every day in hope of being able to do whatever God has in store for me to do. I'm currently working on finishing projects already begun. I leave you with a prayer of thanksgiving:~D
****************************************
I thank You for all the favors You have given me.
I give You thanks from the bottom of my heart for
having created me; for all the joys of life, and its
sorrows too; for the home You have given me; for
the loved ones with which You have surrounded me;
for the friends I have made through life.
My Lord God, I thank you for guarding me
always, and keeping me safe; I thank you for forgiving
me so often in the Sacrament o;f Reconciliation;
for offering Yourself in the Holy Mass with all of
your infinite merits to the Father for me; for coming
to me in Holy Communion in spite of the coldness
of my welcome; for your patient waiting in the
adorable Sacrament of the altar.
My Jesus, I thank you for having lived,
suffered, and died for me. I thank you for Your love.
I thank You Lord, for preparing a place for me in
heaven, where I hope to be happy with You and to
thank You for all eternity. Amen.

Jibber Jabber

That's our boy Michael talking on the phone with his Dad. Michael was so brave when he got his two bottom teeth taken out at the dentist's office. The dentist complimented him and said he wished all his patients were as good.
Well, it's been about five days since I've blogged. Most of us were sick this weekend and part of this week. Eric was home yesterday but thankfully was feeling up to going to school today.
Daniel went with a friend to their church Easter egg hunt and his friend won a new bike and then gave Daniel his old one. Sweet deal for Daniel.
Here are some of the books I've been reading or getting ready to read:
*I just love Duane "Dog" Chapman. I will watch his show every now and then. I haven't read his first book yet but intend to. He's an amazing person and a real inspiration. God is surely using him for His purpose.
*"The Survivors Club" is sooooo interesting! It's really amazing what some people can survive!
*We are going to try planting our garden this year using bags of topsoil as per the article in the April/May 2010 issue of "Mother Earth News" magazine.
*Am saying the Divine Mercy Novena. This little booklet is full of wonderful inspiration:~D So much to be thankful for!
*I've been reading "Graced and Gifted" by Kimberly Hahn. Everything she and her husband Scott Hahn is so wonderful and full of Biblical based teaching in full accord with the teachings of the Catholic church. They are two of my favorite authors.
*Then the next three are books about George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson. I can hardly wait to dig into these gems.
Well, I guess that's it for now. Am working on some preemie hat/booties and an ongoing knitted blanket that has been on the needles now for a few years that needs to get finished. I may be keeping this one. Stay tuned:~D

Urgent Prayer Request

Father, You promise that Your power is released through the fervent prayers of Your holy people. How beautiful that You give us the privilege of sharing in Your saving love for Your people, by our prayers for them. In faith we turn to You now and humbly ask, through the intercession of Your holy servant Father Lucas Etlin to bring complete healing to Your beloved daughter, LISA YOUNG, body, mind and spirit. Give her and her family Your peace. May they know Your loving Presence and Your complete love for them. And may this intercession by Father Lucas, hasten his cause to sainthood, bringing You even greater glory and honor now and forever. Amen

Prayer

O God, who bestowed upon Your faithful servant, Father Lukas Etlin,
a tender love for the Mother of Your Son,
fervent devotion to the Holy Eucharist,
and apostolic charity for all people,
grant us through his intercession, the graces, and favors necessary for the complete healing of LISA YOUNG, body, mind and soul
so that, through manifesting Your good pleasure in his merits
and in hastening his beatification,
the Church may be enhanced through Jesus Christ our Lord.To You, Father be all honor and glory forever. Amen

Burial Bunting Progress

16 lined and 21 more to go. Then I'll weave in the ribbons and sew up the hood, then prepare them for their destination. Tearful but rewarding work. I'll donate them this year in memory of my baby brother Jimmy Lee who was born too soon in 1968 and did not survive. That's why there is so much blue. It's a sad fact that baby boys have a lower survival rate than girls. My husband and I have been so blessed that we have not had to bury any of our boys. My heart goes out to those who do.
